98% of farms are family owned and when you are a multi-generational family farm with deep roots in agriculture it tends to look a little different than people think. Around here we tend to say

“It’s the same pair of family jeans, just different pockets.”

Together as a family we raise corn, soybeans, alfalfa, dairy, beef, sheep and pigs.

Heinrich Farms

Joe is a 3rd Generation Farmer, who along with his wife Shelley grow corn, soybeans, alfalfa and oats, raise beef cow/calf pairs and operate a 60-cow dairy. From farming along side his parents and uncle to now his kids and grandkids, Joe and Shelley have instilled a deep passion for agriculture in their whole family. They say their favorite part about farming is watching their passion for agriculture show up in the next generation.

Hei-View Farms

Marie and Marcel Heinrich, Joe’s parents, began one of the main locations in 1951 after serving in the military. There they raised 5 children – Jean, Paul, Connie, Judy and Joe. To ensure the farm will stay in the family after Marcel passed away, Hei-View Farms, LLC began. It’s truly been an exciting thing to see 3 generations of Heinrichs running around the farm. Petersen Cattle

Shelley’s nephew Troy knew he wanted to farm so when he was 16 he began as Joe’s farm hand. Now, over 25 years later, Troy owns and operates his own part of the farm along with his wife Anessa, a school teacher, and 3 kids – Lane, Emrie and Callie. They grow corn, soybeans and alfalfa and run a cow/calf and feeder operation. Lane for sure caught the love of farming from his dad as he helps out any chance he can when he’s not in school.

Grateful View Farms

The apple truly doesn’t fall far from the tree in this family. Amber, Joe and Shelley’s oldest daughter was also drawn to agriculture starting at a young age. She obtained a Dairy Science Degree from Iowa State University where she also met someone who’s love of dairy farming matched her own. While she works in marketing, her husband Ben works alongside Joe to operate the 60-cow dairy. And if you ask us – Jersey’s are our favorite kind of cow! Read more.

JK Marshall Farms

Joe and Shelley’s youngest daughter began an early love affair with agriculture. It lead her to attend Iowa State University to gain a master’s degree in Plant Genetics. After she married a man with deep agriculture roots himself they settled on what we call The Heritage Farm which has been in the family since 1857. There they along with their 3 boys – David, Brandon and Michael, have a family farm raising pork, beef, and lamb, growing alfalfa and small grains too. They also do custom farming.
